The Annual Rescue Fund (ARF)

Through your gifts, our friends can find homes, love and a new hope for the future

Some years ago, a group of animal advocates banded together with the common vision of rescuing animals and finding them homes. Their mission included working closely with shelters in the MidShore area, including CCHS. They called their organization ARF, Animal Resource Foundation, and over the years saved the lives of many dogs and cats.

ARF’s talented artists and visionaries created a “giving tree” with the goal of recognizing and memorializing beloved pets and raising much needed funds at the same time. A pet owner may offer sponsorship at varying levels (Bronze, Silver, Gold, or Platinum leaves) to have a leaf of the tree engraved with their pet’s name.   When ARF closed their doors in 2019, CCHS was honored to become the new home of the ARF Giving Tree (and numerous other items).

We are deeply grateful for the efforts and generosity of the Animal Resource Foundation. We have adjusted the acronym to Animal Rescue Fund (also called our Animal Care Fund) but the goal remains the same: to find homes for as many animals as we can.

If you would like to make a contribution to the ARF Memorial Tree, where your beloved pet will always be remembered, please let us know. You will help homeless animals in need while honoring your pet at the same time. This beautiful tree is located in the lobby of CCHS and is on display for all to see. . Sponsorship levels are as follows:

Challenge

BRONZE LEVEL: $100     SILVER LEVEL: $250    GOLD LEVEL: $500    PLATINUM LEVEL: $1,000

When you make a donation to ARF's Memorial Tree, your sponsorship is much more than just a leaf on a tree. It helps to nourish the tree that is CCHS. Your contribution to our shelter is one that helps to feed and care for the animals who, through no fault of their own, come through our doors. If you have adopted a pet from Caroline County Humane Society, this is a wonderful way to honor them and give other animals a chance at a new life, just as we did with your adopted dog or cat.

All contributions are tax deductible, and we will gladly submit a receipt to you. On behalf of all of the pets, thank you!

Other ways you can give...

As an animal shelter, we are always in need of help! Volunteers, special events, and fund-raisers always need an extra hand. Perhaps you can visit our main Donate page to see if there are other ways to contribute to Caroline County Humane Society?

Planned Giving to CCHS

Legacy giving offers ideas as to how you can be a partner in helping us protect animals in our county and maintain an active adoption program for the homeless dogs and cats and other domestic animals that come under our care at the Caroline County Humane Society. Legacy giving provides the resources necessary to sustain excellence and preserve the future of Caroline County Humane Society.

There are as many different ways to support Caroline County Humane Society as there are needs for your support. Planning a gift is more than just finding a need. There are a lot of factors to consider.

The best way to proceed is to call the shelter and ask to speak with Leanne Gower, our Executive Director, who can identify what is your most efficient way to support us.

If you have already included Caroline County Humane Society in your estate plans, please let us know by calling us. We would like to assist you in making certain your intentions will be carried out. If you have not written a will yet, regardless of your charitable intent, please consider it for it is a gift to your loved ones.

Individual circumstances will vary as with all tax and estate planning, please consult your attorney or estate specialist. Some of the gift arrangements are revocable and others cannot be changed once established. Some work better with cash and others with appreciated assets. There are many variations, enough so that a giving plan can be tailored to your needs, desires and capabilities. We will be glad to answer questions and offer suggestions confidentially based on your personal circumstances.

For more information or a confidential discussion of your charitable options, please call our Board of Directors President Bonnie Johnson 410-310-0777 or email info@carolinehumane.org.
