ADOPT

Adoption Info
Adoption is more than bringing home a shelter animal. It is choosing compassion and giving an animal the opportunity for safety, stability, and love. Every adoption creates space for another animal in need and keeps the cycle of hope moving forward.
Why Adoption Matters
➜ You Save Two Lives
When you adopt, you provide a home for one shelter animal and create room for another waiting for care.
➜ You Help Reduce Shelter Overcrowding
Adoption helps manage the number of animals in shelters and ensures more animals receive the care they need.
➜ You Provide a Second Chance
Many shelter animals arrive through no fault of their own. Adoption gives them the opportunity to start again in a supportive home environment.
Adopting Made Simple

At Caroline County Humane Society, adopting a shelter animal is easy and straightforward. In three simple steps, you can visit the shelter to meet a companion, have your adoption request reviewed by staff, and then bring your new friend home.
Please Note:
While our adoption process is simple, Caroline County Humane Society reserves the right to decline any adoption request. Adoption request forms are reviewed to ensure the safety and well-being of the animals, and factors such as past or current animal cruelty convictions, ongoing animal control cases, or other concerns in our records may affect approval. Our priority is to match each animal with the home best suited to their needs, rather than simply processing requests in the order they are received.
